Which Platforms Should You Use as an Image Creator?
Is 50 to 100% of your content images? Have you primarily been focusing on one single social media platform? Would you like to know the best platforms to focus on next?
We have created four tracks that show where you should begin moving your content depending on your primary platform. For example: if you've grown comfortable posting on Facebook, then the best course of action you can take to start expanding your online presence is to progress to Instagram.
Already On Facebook?
There are two tracks you can take if you've already started on Facebook, and these tracks depend on both your target audience and your video-creating experience.
YouTube is an extremely popular platform, especially with Generation Z. So if you are focused almost entirely on reaching them, then we recommend progressing to that platform. However, this will be a time-consuming progression since the content you will create is in a different form (meaning you should also only progress to YouTube next if you have a lot of experience developing videos).
Instagram, on the other hand, is an easy platform to progress to next due to their similar features and demographic. The content you create can be almost identical, meaning you will reach a wider audience with little effort. (Also note: if your audience is Gen Z but you don't have video-creating experience - Instagram is still a good platform to reach younger individuals).
Already On Instagram?
Since Instagram and Facebook share many similarities, we are going to recommend similar tracks. If your target audience is Gen Z and you have video-creating experience - progress to YouTube! But if you have a different target audience and little video-creating experience - progress to Facebook!
Either way, after you grow comfortable posting on Facebook, the next platform you should begin creating content for is Twitter. This will be a softer demographic change than any other platform, therefore you won't have to change language or style too much in order to appeal to the users.
After progressing to Twitter, LinkedIn would be a great option to start posting on next - but remember that Gen Z is most likely not going to be on this platform.
Already On LinkedIn?
If your business has chosen LinkedIn as their primary social media platform, then your target audience is most likely older and career-focused. This is why we recommend Facebook as the next platform you begin familiarizing yourself with. A lot of the same audience can be found on Facebook - and you will also reach more of them since Facebook is a more popular platform!
After Facebook, Instagram might be an easier transition - but you will benefit the most on Twitter. The people who use Twitter are largely college-educated Millennials, a demographic that can also be seen on LinkedIn. Meaning: you will reach the people you want to reach - whereas it will be more difficult to reach the same audience on Instagram.
Already On Twitter?
If you are primarily posting on Twitter, then the next platform you should progress to should definitely be Facebook. However, your progression from Facebook will depend on whether or whether not you're targeting Gen Z. If you are, then you should move on to Instagram in order to better reach them. If you aren't, then your best option is to move on to LinkedIn.
YouTube is the final progression - but, as we have stated for the other tracks, you should only ever progress to this platform if you are creating videos in the landscape format. Portrait videos, unlike videos you can post on Instagram, do not perform well on YouTube.
